The common thing between them is that they didn’t give up. In the same way, with perseverance, you can overcome all hurdles you face in life. Below are three tips on how you can overcome weakness through sheer persistence.
Keep sight of your goal
When things are going south and you feel like quitting, it is important to remember why you started in the first place. This will give you the discipline, determination and commitment to continue pushing yourself. Always maintain a clear vision of where you want to be and why you are doing it. The best way of doing this is by having a vision board that contains your goals. Post pictures of what you want to achieve on it and update it regularly, since your goals might change with time. You should place your vision board where you can see it everyday, for instance on your bedroom wall or on your desk at work. Every time you feel like giving up, looking at your vision board will spur you to keep on.
Break down your goal into manageable chunks
During moments when things are hard, we look at our goals and start thinking that they are too big, too demanding or outright unattainable. You might ask yourself how you will build your business into a million dollar company when you are having trouble getting your first client. This kind of thinking prevents us from taking action. Instead, break down your goal into manageable pieces. What do you need to do each year to get there? What about each month? What about each day? Concentrate on the small actions you need to take each day and the bigger picture will take of itself.
Have a list of past achievements
In moments of weakness, our confidence is shaken and we feel like we are not capable of getting through the present hurdles. However, it is not the first time you have faced adversity in your life. Make a list of things you have accomplished in the past. This will show you that you are capable and give you the confidence you need to get past the current challenges. It also allows you to be grateful for the steps you have made in life and will infuse you with positive energy, which is an important factor for achieving your goals.
